What is the AOC 27V2H?

The AOC 27V2H is a budget IPS monitor that comes with decent specs and useful features. Read this review of the AOC 27V2H to find out if it is the right monitor for you.

AOC 27V2H – Image Quality

The AOC 27V2H is a 27-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) monitor. It is based on the IPS panel. It covers 99% of the sRGB color gamut and supports 8-bit color depth via dithering (6-bit + FRC).

The color accuracy of this monitor is very good. You won’t have any washed-out images like those of TN panel monitors.

The images look vibrant and the colors pop out. This is not surprising as IPS panels are popular for their superior color quality and wide viewing angles. You can also use it for entry-level graphic design.

It has a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a brightness level of 250-nits. These are the standard specs for most budget IPS monitors. The contrast levels may not be on par with that of VA panels but still, the images are detailed and the colors appear distinctive.

The brightness level is decent enough for most spaces. Unless you’re using the monitor in a very bright room, you will have no problems with it.

The panel uniformity of this monitor is decent. The colors are consistent throughout the panel without any ups and downs.

The 27-inch screen size combined with a 1080p resolution results in a pixel density of 81PPI. You won’t have any issues with blurry text and pixelated images as long as there is an arm-length distance between you and the monitor.

You get 178-degree wide and relaxed viewing angles with this monitor. You won’t have any change in colors, brightness, and contrast levels even when you view it from skewed angles.

The monitor we reviewed had no dead pixels on it. There were slight IPS glow present towards its edges. It is tolerable and is visible only when you are in dark areas of a game or a movie.

The AOC 27V2H has a matte anti-glare coating on it. It handles reflections effectively.

The overall image quality of the AOC 27V2H is more than satisfactory. It truly raised the bar for most budget monitors.

AOC 27V2H – Design, Ergonomics and Connectivity

The AOC 27V2H comes in a slim yet elegant design. The bezels used are ultra-thin. They give this monitor a sharp look. They help maximize the viewing area while making it free of distractions when you use the monitor for multi-monitor setups. It also occupies less space on the desk.

There are five OSD buttons present on the lower bezel of the monitor. They help you navigate the OSD menu. They are easy to use and straight forward.

The build quality of this monitor is decent. It is completely made of good quality plastic. It feels strong and durable. The backside of the monitor has a matte finish. The stand has a square base and stands sturdy. It also has a hallow for cable management.

The ergonomics of the stand are only limited to the -4°/22° Tilt functionality. You cannot adjust the height of the monitor, swivel it, or rotate it. There is also no VESA mount present. You cannot wall mount it or connect it to a third party-stand.

The connectivity options of the AOC 27V2H are HDMI 1.4 x 1 and VGA x1. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack. This monitor doesn’t have any inbuilt speakers.

AOC 27V2H – Gaming Performance

The AOC 27V2H is a decent choice for gaming.

It has a refresh rate of 75Hz. This is a small boost from the 60Hz monitors. The gameplay will be a bit smoother on this monitor and the difference will be definitely noticeable.

It also supports AMD’s FreeSync variable refresh rate technology. Using AMD graphics cards, you will have no problems with stuttering, screen tearing, and lagging during gameplay.

FreeSync is supported over the HDMI port and works when the FPS in games is between 48 and 75.  The FreeSync feature is enabled by default. You cannot find it in the OSD menu. You can turn it off in the GPU driver settings.

You can use the 75Hz refresh rate even using the Nvidia graphics cards but you cannot use the FreeSync feature as there is no DisplayPort.

It has a response time of 5ms and its input lag is around 9ms. The input lag is imperceptible and you will have no major issues with ghosting and motion blur in video games.

You can further try to decrease the response time of this monitor using the Overdrive feature in the OSD menu. I recommend you use the “Medium” setting because the “Strong” feature introduces ghosting.

The AOC 27V2H is also a great choice for consoles like PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The Xbox One also supports the FreeSync feature.

Despite being a general use monitor, the AOC 27V2H has decent features that appeal to gamers. It may not be useful for competitive gamers but should be enough for console gamers and casual gamers.
