What is Sceptre C345W-2560UN

The Sceptre C345W-2560UN is a 34-inch ultrawide monitor. Like many other Sceptre products, it offers you a good price-performance ratio. Read this review to know more about it.

Sceptre C345W-2560UN – Image Quality

The Sceptre C345W-2560UN is a 34-inch (2560 x 1080 21:9) ultrawide monitor. It sports a VA panel that covers 92% of the sRGB color gamut and supports 8-bit color depth.

The picture quality of this monitor is decent. The colors are a bit washed out when compared with other VA panel monitors but few tweaks here and there could improve them by a noticeable margin. I would suggest increasing the saturation until you are satisfied with the colors.

It has a contrasts ratio of 3000:1. This results in deeper blacks and bright whites. VA panel monitors offer you better contrast ratios than IPS and TN panel monitors. They are popular among dark room gamers for the same reason.

It has a brightness level of 320-nits. It is fairly bright even when used in a well-lit room. I would suggest you tone it down a bit to prevent eye strain.

It has a pixel density of 82PPI. While this won’t affect gamers, those who are planning to use this monitor for work or office use should maintain a hand lengths distance from its screen to prevent pixelation and blurriness.

It has 178-degree viewing angles. You will not have any major change in color, brightness, and contrast levels when you view it from extreme angles.

The panel uniformity of this monitor is okay. I observed a few ups and downs in the colors towards its edges. This won’t be an issue unless you plan on using this monitor for color-critical work.

The monitor we reviewed had no dead pixels on it. I did notice a little bit of black smear present towards its edges. It is common in almost all VA panel monitors. It is noticeable only in dark areas of a video game or movie. There is an anti-glare coating present on it that helps diffuse reflections that form on it.

All things considered, the Sceptre C345W-2560UN has a satisfactory picture quality especially when you consider its price. Except for color-critical work such as graphic design and video editing, you can use it for almost everything else. You will definitely enjoy gaming and watching movies on it.

Sceptre C345W-2560UN – Design, Ergonomics, and Connectivity

The Sceptre C345W-2560UN is a curved monitor. It has a curvature of 1500R. Although not an aggressive curvature, it definitely helps improve immersion while gaming and watching movies. Its thin bezels help minimize the bezel gap when used for a multi-monitor setup.

This monitor comes in a simple design without any aesthetic enhancements. Its build quality is decent. It uses good quality plastic. It uses a circular stand that stands firm without any wobble.

In terms of ergonomics, it only offers you 15°/5° tilt functionality. You cannot adjust its height, swivel it or rotate it. There is a 75 x 75mm VESA pattern present on its back using which you can wall-mount it.

There are OSD buttons present on its lower bezel using which you can navigate the OSD menu. A joystick would have been a better option here but for its price, this is expected.

Its connectivity options include: 2 x HDMI 1.4 and 1 x DisplayPort 1.2. In terms of audio, it has a 3.5mm headphone jack and 2 x 3W built-in speakers. Its sound output is average. I would suggest using external speakers for a better audio experience.

Sceptre C345W-2560UN – Gaming Performance

The Sceptre C345W-2560UN is a decent ultrawide gaming monitor.

It offers you a 100Hz refresh rate that makes gaming a lot smoother than 60Hz monitors. I would recommend using a DisplayPort since the HDMI only support up to 85Hz.

It supports FreeSync technology that helps improve your gaming experience by preventing distractions stuttering, screen tearing, and lagging in games. It also works with Nvidia graphics cards without any issues.

It has a response time of 6ms and its input lag is around 11ms. Except for competitive gaming, you can use this monitor for pretty much anything. I did notice some ghosting in dark areas while playing fast-paced games. This is common in most VA panel monitors and shouldn’t be a major distraction.

The Sceptre C345W-2560UN is a great choice for sim racing, flight simulators, MOBAs, and immersive single-player games.

Its overdrive feature helps control the response time of the monitor. It also comes with FPS and RTS gaming presets that help improves the viewing experience of such titles.

It has a variety of Picture Presets like Standard, User, Movie, and Eco.
