What is the Viotek GN34CW

Viotek GN34CW – Image Quality

The Viotek GN34CW is a 34-inch Ultrawide QHD (3440 x 1440) Monitor. It sports a VA panel. It covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut and supports 8-bit color depth.

The overall image quality of this monitor is decent. The colors are fairly accurate and the visuals are gorgeous to look at. You can use this monitor for pretty much anything other than graphic design or any other color-critical work. IPS panel monitors are a better fit for that purpose.

It has a contrast ratio of 3000:1. VA Panels are popular for their high contrast ratios. This results in vibrant visuals across the screen. Images will look much more realistic with deep blacks and bright whites. This monitor is also fairly bright. It has a brightness level of 300-nits.

It has an optimal pixel density of 110PPI. Higher pixel density results in sharper-looking text and detailed images.

It has 178-degree wide viewing angles. Images look accurate without losing color, contrast, or brightness levels even when you view the monitor from extreme angles. You won’t have to deal with washed-out colors as you see in TN panel monitors.

The panel uniformity of the Viotek GN34CW is satisfactory. The colors and brightness levels were fairly accurate at the center of the monitor. I observed some dimming towards its edges. It won’t be a major issue for most people. In fact, you wouldn’t even notice it unless you deliberately look for it.

I did not find any dead pixels on this monitor. It has a matte anti-glare coating that helps prevent any distracting reflections from forming on it. I observed only a tiny amount of backlight bleeding on its edges. It is only noticeable in dark scenes of a game or a movie.

When all’s said and done, its image quality is satisfactory, especially for its price. Of course, it would be unfair to compare it with IPS monitors or more expensive monitors. If you are mainly going to use this monitor for work, regular use, and casual gaming, you will have no problems with it.

Viotek GN34CW – Design, Ergonomics, and Connectivity

The Viotek GN34CW comes in an elegant design. It is aesthetically pleasing and will definitely stand out when placed among regular monitors. It has a white cabinet that sits on a silvery stand. Its overall build quality is decent. The V-shaped stand stays firm without any wobble.

Its screen has a curvature of 1800R. This helps improve immersion while gaming and watching movies. Its thin bezels minimize the bezel gap offering you fewer distractions while using it for a multi-monitor setup. It also helps maximize its viewing area.

In terms of ergonomics, its stand only offers you -5°/ 15° tilt functionality. You cannot rotate it, adjust its height or swivel it. There is a 100x100mm VESA pattern present on its back using which you can wall-mount it.

There are five OSD buttons present on its lower bezel. They are easy to operate. A joystick would have been a much better option here.

In terms of connectivity ports, you get DisplayPort 1.2 x 1, HDMI 2.0 x 1, and DVI x 1. It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack. It doesn’t have any USB ports or in-built speakers.

Viotek GN34CW – Gaming Performance

The Viotek GN34CW is a decent ultrawide gaming monitor.

It has a 100Hz refresh rate. If you are switching over from a 60Hz monitor, you will notice a striking difference in the smoothness of the gameplay.

It also supports FreeSync refresh rate technology. This helps prevent stuttering, screen tearing, and lagging when used with an AMD graphics card. You can also use it with Nvidia graphics cards without any problems.

It has a response time of 4ms and an input lag of around 10ms. I observed minor ghosting in dark areas of fast-paced games. This is due to the VA panel used. I would not recommend this monitor for competitive gamers.

The Viotek GN34CW is best suited for flight simulators, sim racing, and MOBAs. Its curved screen coupled with its impressive image quality makes gaming enjoyable.

Viotek GN34CW – Additional Features

The 3440 x 1440 resolution offers you more screen real estate. This makes the Viotek GN34CW a suitable choice for multitasking. It comes with PIP (Picture-in-Picture) and PBP (Picture-by-Picture) features that help you multitask seamlessly.

The PIP feature helps divide the screen into separate segments and assign an application to each one. You can work on several applications at once without switching between multiple windows. This is especially useful for programmers and for those working on spreadsheets.

The PBP feature helps display inputs from two different sources at the same time.

The Viotek GN34CW is also a flicker-free monitor. You will not experience any headaches even after using it for a prolonged time. It has a blue light filter that helps prevent eye strain.

The OSD menu offers you several settings to modify its color, contrast, and brightness levels. It also has several picture and game modes such as Standard, Movie, RTS, FPS, etc.
